Pursuant to the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023, Pub. L. No. 117-263, § 5274, which amends the Inspector General Act of 1978, Offices of Inspectors General are required to notify, on the date of report publication any non-governmental organizations (NGO) or business entities that are specifically identified in a non-investigative report that they have the option to, within 30 days, submit a written response for the purpose of clarifying or providing additional context as it directly relates to each instance within that report where that NGO or business entity was specifically identified.
The responses that comply with the requirements of § 5274 are included here on the Office of Inspector General’s public facing website along with the original report to which the response was submitted. The U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General (DOL OIG) updates this website to provide links to § 5274-compliant written responses it receives, next to the reports to which they relate.
DOL OIG reviews all written responses that are received within 30 days of report publication to ensure conformity with the requirements of § 5274 before including them on this website. DOL OIG reviews responses to, among others items, prevent the improper disclosure of classified or other non-public information by redacting such information from written responses, if necessary. The DOL OIG may not attach written responses that are not limited to providing clarity or additional context as it directly relates to each instance within that report where that NGO or business entity was specifically identified.
